Presentation of disaster location information using geographichal information system based on web service

Abstract

Region Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD) Gorontalo Regency handles disasters by installing disaster traffic signs as disaster location information to the community. However, the information submitted is not yet complete and widespread to the people outside Gorontalo. The aim of this research is to improve the presentation of information on the location of natural disasters in Gorontalo Regency using a geographic information system. This research uses system development method, namely the prototype method. The result of the research indicates that the Geographic Information System for Natural Disasters Location can improve the presentation of information on the location of natural disasters in Gorontalo District. This system can help BPBD Gorontalo Regency in delivering disaster information fully in the form of information on the location of the disaster, the type of disaster, the number of residents, the number of victims of the disaster, and the details of disaster victims to the community. This system uses SMS gateway technology as a gateway to receive community SMS reports during a disaster and use web-service technology as a data exchange with a logistics distribution information system.
