Pancasila values as the basis for indonesian national character education

Abstract

This paper discusses the values of Pancasila as the basis of national character education. National character education is the formation of Indonesian people in accordance with Pancasila values. The values contained in Pancasila: belief in the one and only God, a just and civilized humanity, unity of Indonesia, democracy, led by the wisdom of the representatives of the people, and social justice for all Indonesian people. Based on the literature review and analysis, the writer finds that character education can be divided into two elements. First, personal character is character education to shape Indonesian people into intelligent and personally superior human characters. The second element of the nation's character is required every Indonesian, who is plural and full of differences, can live side by side as a great nation, namely the Indonesian nation. It can be concluded that both elements of character education are very important, personal character education and national character education namely to form good citizens
