Academic supervision by the school principal to improve teacher’s professional competency

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the planning, implementation, and follow up of academic supervision experienced by principal in improving the professional competence of teachers. Data collection techniques using descriptive design. The results of the study show that there are still some teachers who have not mastered the learning material as a result they could not develop the material, it can be seen from the scores of students who have not reached the standard of minimum completeness and there are still some teachers do not make Lesson Plan. Besides, there are some teachers who have not been completed in providing remedial and enrichment to students so that students are still not aware of the material taught by the teacher. Moreover, some teachers still use conventional method such as lectures and always take notes or summarize books. It makes students get bored in the teaching and learning process.
