The role of headmaster in managing the facilities and infrastructure

Abstract

This research is motivated by the progress of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in research are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed: (1) The role of the principal in planning facilities and infrastructure is carried out through coordination with representatives of facilities and infrastructure, teachers and staff to conduct a needs analysis based on a priority scale, then adjusted to the funds they had. While the role of the principal in the procurement of facilities and infrastructure is carried out by making a proposal for the procurement of facilities and infrastructure that has been adjusted to the plan, then addressed to the Payakumbuh education office. (2) The role of the principal in inventorying the facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh is to supervise and check the facilities and infrastructure in the school, then administrative staff write in the inventory list book. (3) The role of the principal in maintaining facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh is good enough, because the principal provides motivation, advice and direction in managing facilities and infrastructure. (4) The role of the principal in the elimination of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh, namely by submitting a proposal for the removal to the education office.
